Crach is right - the last four or five years in May/June we've stayed down on the Med because many other parts of France were colder and wetter.  We follow 'the sun', looking for the best forecast once we've arrived in France, and head in that direction.  You won't need to book at most sites and can just go where you please.  Most sites will have absolutely loads of free pitches at that time of year. 

In 2014 it's the Centenary of the start of WW1 so sites in the northern part of France, near the war graves/battlefields may have to be booked in advance.

That's what caravanning is about - touring, with the freedom to go where you want, when you want, with your lovely home behind the car! 

Enjoy it for a change - you can't do it in England.
