There's only 1 in the city, acceptable for a night or 2 we thought, but we didn't use the facilities so can't comment on them.

We found the same thing this year - almost exactly.  Muddy pitches, showers and toilets smelly and lacking maintenance, with rotten wood frames and doors, and just generally down at heel.  The manager was the most surly I've ever met in thirty three years of camping and caravanning holidays - but it is VERY handy for the city, and if you don't use the site facilities, and it's a dry night or two, you should be OK.

It takes an ACSI card which saves you a few euros per night.

There is a municipal site at Courville sur Eure - 7.50 euro per night for pitch, two adults, car and caravan, with electricity at 3.30 per night - but it doesn't take twin axles.  About 20km from Chartres.

We stayed at the Huttopia at Senonches, which is a bit further away, but which we liked a lot.  There are pitches in the meadow area, and then in the forest.  Sanitary facilities are good, the restaurant overlooking the lake is lovely, and it's next to the municipal sports ground.  The village is within walking distances, and there are a few pretty looking restaurants and shops.

We stayed here just for an overnight stop  Camping Les llots de St Val at Villiers le Morhier, its not too far from Chartres but you do need your own transport.
