Hi Im looking at taking my TT to France for the first time next year .Paris for a couple of days then Vendee .I liked the look of the above campsite as walking distance to a beach and a local town(St Jean de Monts) with a good swimming complex and kid entertainment ( Essential with my 8 and 3 year old) but cant find many (english written) reviews.

I had a look on the review section and sadly its not listed so wondered if anyone had first hand experience. If so is any of the entertainment in english , my girls love all the kids disco stuff and I would hate it if they couldn't join in.

Check out Zoover. They'll probably have some reviews of the site.

Quite a few reviews on trip advisor ... Le Bois Joli is a different site.

My kids still talk fondly of the couple of holidays we had around St Jean de Monts when they were younger (about 20 years ago) and we found the area a great introduction to camping in France. No experience of this site though.

Nowadays I prefer quieter and less commercial areas!

Thanks for the replies . Think we are just going to chance it.The biggest draw for us is walking distance to a beach and a town with evening entertainment ...looked at loads of sites for Vendee area and cant find another that ticks all of the boxes ...thanks again ...cant wait for my first camping trip to france :-)

Hi Trinny

We Stayed at Bois Joly , just on the outskirts of St Jean De Monts, this year.

It is a very French site and walking about there were a few British caravans but not many.

The good bits of the site: - It was clean , the toilets were spotless and plenty of hot water, they did get busy around 5 pm and to wait in a queue was not uncommon. The Reception staff were great , they spoke English if you got stuck in French. The pool complex was good as well (we only used it a couple of times as my teenage daughters no longer feel its cool to go with dad to the pool). There appeared to be plenty going on for younger kids but I'm guessing it was in French. The site was about a 10 minute walk from the centre of St Jeans , (if you want to go to the seaside bit with the shops there, it was a good 20 mins walk.)

The bad bits ..... some pitches were difficult to get into , we just got into ours with inches to spare. The entrance to the site was interesting to say the least we got stuck as there were cars double parked ..... the reception staff sorted things out pretty quickly and got the cars moved.

As I said its a very French site , we were made to feel really welcome and enjoyed a few nights with our French neighbours who had been coming to the site each year for about 25 years.

I would point out it is not a short walk to the beach ... we found a couple of beaches further up the coast that were good to cycle too or to take the car too.

All in all we had a great time ....
