Alan's route is lovely, but it is very hilly.
It might be less hilly, if longer, to go via Le Mans, Orleans, around to the south of Paris, then join the A6, and the A7 down the Rhone Valley, which generally has very few long hills - though obviously it does go up and down a bit. Viamichelin suggests that there is only about an hour's difference going it that way, rather than via either Toulouse or Clermont Ferrand.
