Agree the grand canyon de Verdun is amazing but to get the best out of it you must get out the car and walk the sentier Martell.Rightly one of the most popular walks in europe.

The kings trail that drifts into western europes last wilderness Sarek natinonal park in Swedish Lapland is amazing but only for experienced backpackers. There are no marked  paths or bridges to cross the rivers so experience crossing rivers is needed. The weather is often awful but given reasonable weather is amazing. The presence of large carnivores always concentrates the mind when hiking!!

VENICE .. the greatest outdoor museum of them all ... plus fantastic interiors, too!
Picos de Europa
Salamanca
Marais Poitevin
Schloss Linderhoff (Bavaria)
The Wieskirche. Germany's most famous Rococo church is utterly breathtaking (Bavaria)
Lake Como
Vercors National Park ...especially the Northern part
Agree with lots of the others, too

Cities?

I'm a little surprised Barcelona hasn't been mentioned. You get sea, city and mountains all in close proximity. There is so much to see in Barcelona, then there's the funfair perched on the top of Tibidabo ... just outside town (well, an hour or so) there's the monastery at Montserrat (which means pointy mountain and boy is it pointy!)
At this time of year they have turron, a thousand kinds of nut brittle, nougat and soft nutty stuff. Or you gcould go to Sant Sadurni and sample the Cava, another seasonal treat for some of us. And in some of the villages around and about the good people climb up each other and make towers.

Lovely place.

Pity they've banned the living statues in the Ramblas, though!
However, Sagrada Familia continues to grow year by year.

Lago di Ledro. Camping Azzurro.

Great basecamp for walking in the mountains. Or mountainbiking.

Lets try to be quite specific in this thread.

Dont just say Dolomites, give cities, campsires and locations.

Lets be much better than any guidebook ;-)

I mentioned it!!  One of my favourite cities - something new to discover every time you visit, no matter what the time of year.

Some of these suggestions are pretty general. Some are whole countries and they all have an armpit or two. same with cities.

Also many are subjective. Rome would be my personal favourite with the Roman forum and the colosseum.

In the colosseum look for the sign pointing the way to the Roman brothel. not usually included in the tour.
