I am thinking of driving from Calais to La Rochelle in the summer, I have never used a sat nav as I have heard they can get you into some sticky situations. Has anyone used one on this route and was it easy.

I would not be bothered but will have the caravan on the back, I have looked on the map and it seems streight forward but one or two towns to go through.

When I looked on the map that was the bit that had me worried a little, most of the other towns you can by pass.

If you are taking the route through Rouen the bridge to the bypass was closed this summer requiring a diversion but apparently it will open again in time for this summer so should be no problem, you just follow signs Le Mans, takes you onto ring rd which is easiest route.
