We store our caravan in mid-France, paying less for indoor storage than we would for outdoor storage in England. We did store right down in the south, thinking that as we spent out holidays there it would make sense. However, we found that whilst it did save us some money, the saving was not as great as we first thought. Those who think about storage in the south often forget that to get to the south you need an overnight stop and in a caravan this can be a cheap overnight campsite. Without a caravan you have a hotel to pay for. With a caravan you can carry all your food with you and eat cheaply en-route. Without a caravan you have to eat out for every meal - or fill the car with picnics! As a result we moved the caravan to central France - to an area we can get to from the ferry and still just get the caravan on to a pitch on the first night.
