You can use Google maps to tell you the distance from one place to another, or viamichelin or mappy.com. Calais to Perros Guirec on the north coast is 401 miles, Calais to Concarneau is 456 miles, and Calais to Carnac is 414 miles. So if you go to the 'Lands End' of Brittany, at the farthest point from Calais, it's around 490 miles.
Have you got a destination in mind - or just wanted to get a feel for how far you might have to drive.

I'd go south rather than west to Brittany. If you went 400 miles south from Calais then you would stand a much better chance of some good weather. There are still some very good value sites, where you could get a pitch during August for only a few euros.
What sort of site are you looking for, and will you have children (what ages?) with you? You might get some good recommendations from people on here for reasonably priced sites with the sort of facilties you're looking for.

Ferries to Calais are a lot cheaper than western routes.
Why not decide roughly how far you want to drive then draw a circle on the map. You'll be able to get around half way down France for the same mileage as Brittany with hundreds of camp sites to choose from.
Bear in mind that you will not average more than 45 or 50 miles per hour which will give you a maximum of 300 miles a day.

st jean de monts in vendee about 5 hrs towing from caen less from st malo but pricey crossing lac d'orient about 4/5 hours from Calais but probs better weather. from experience Brittany is very nice a bit like cornwall but doesn't often get the weather like further south, but nice when it does. pont aven is lovely in Brittany, as can be carnac but it can get blowy on that atlantic coast
la Rochelle is worth seeing and a bit warmer than brittany

Alsace, Champagne/Ardennes, Loire, or even spend a bit more travelling time and get as far south as the Dordogne/Lot area. What do you all like from a site, and from an area? Do you want restaurant/bar/swimming pools and entertainment, or five pitches in an orchard? Do you like sight-seeing, or lounging around the pool? Do you want spectacular scenery, or gentle walks?
Tell us a bit more about what you're wanting from a holiday, and we'll try to help.
