Ok, thought we had nailed our choice to Cote D'Argent in Hourtin for 11 days in August.

But now, we don't know!!!! The Alps is similar in distance, so is the Dordogne, or the Loire!!!

Ok, a plea for help, here are our MUST haves!

Pools, preferably with slides
Quiet enough but with something for a teenage boy to do
STUNNING view
Far enough South for hot sunny weather
Not late night party venue!!
Excellent toilet/shower facilities

Any help hugely appreciated! Any other info you might need, just ask away!

Les Peneyrals in the Dordogne gets our vote.
Went there a couple of years ago and both kids loved it(then14&9)so are going back this year on their request. There is a couple of pools with slides, a nice restaurant and bar with some entertainment but not in your face.
Also a fishing lake, football pitch , large play area and crazy golf.

It's always difficult to choose where to go - and perhaps best to go with your original choice. It gets easier when you have no children with you, and easier still when you can go for longer, and just go where you please.

Lots of others spend ages deliberating about sites, and the more they look at the more confused they seem to become, which is perhaps why the poster above suggested sticking with the original site.

I think I'm just all wrapped up in researching wonderful sunny escapes whilst beset by the British winter!!

Hourtin does look amazing, and the beach is a big bonus. But then looking at the Alpine resorts offers so much too!!

Alps in summer is for mountain walks, ok if you want to work up a sweat otherwise stick with lazing on the beach at Hourtin & only a 100miles from the Dordogne if you fancy a day out, anyway. Take a ride through St-Emilion towards Bergerac, all good stuff.

William I do agree - there are so many great places to explore!

However as mentioned by the wise poster above me, stick with your original choice and then plan another region next year

I suspect its the same for most of us and with children makes it harder We look through campsites and then pick 3 and usually choose one of them Then think have we done the right thing as you can never get the weeks back Ours is Serignan plage this year and its with comments from others on here you go 'yes' stay with original choice Unless something blindingly obvious lands in front of you which is rare

Sorry, can't help with a camp site but the only place out of those you mention with "Stunning" views is the Alps. All the others are too flat !

Just go with Hourtin for now, you can go somewhere else next year.

Guaranteed spectacular views.
Pretty much guaranteed hot weather (Dordogne and similar not so much so, they are green and lush for a reason!)
Plenty going on, lots to do but not "party" region.
Pools at most sites, some with slides, but also fantastic river swimming with "rapids" to play in. My teen boys ended up preferring the river to the pool, floating along on a lilo or shooting down the fast bits in a big inflatable ring.
Have a look at the sites around Vallon Pont D'Arc, Sampzon, Ruoms, that sort of area.
