Hi,
We are taking our 2 dogs to France for the first time this year and we have also been told about canine Leishmania.
However we have done extensive research and have spoken at length to our vet and there is now a vaccine against this.
The cost is approx £95:00 but if you are travelling to a leishmania hotspot ( which the South of France, Spain, Portugal are )we feel it is absolutely essential to have it. Ultimately if your dog catches this there is NO cure

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
but please be aware of the processionary caterpillars in the pine trees..... if the hairs are are inhaled it can be fatal saw a lot of nests all down through france/spain and Portugal but never on the ground.......................

Our dog was tested for leishmania because he was a rescue dog from Cyprus, he came over with a batch of 4 other dogs one of which tested positive. That dog has to be kept on various drugs for the rest of his life. Put into context Vets in Cyprus tested 900 dogs and 30 come up positive.
The general consensus is don't let the dog out at night, and use a Scalibor collar and shampoo.
