I've been doing a little research as fancy a little holiday to Disney for my 40th.
I first looked at staying at Disney, but at £1.5k for 4 nights, that's nearly half of what we paid to go to Florida a few years back for a fortnight.
So I've had a look at 4 Vents but they close on the 31st Oct which is Friday of half term.
Is it worth travelling all that way for 6 nights?
So it's about £185 for 4 Vents, a couple of hundred for Disney Tix, The Ferry around £70 if I can get a deal, plus petrol and food - what have I forgotten?

Hi, we are thinking off doing the same this year. We went October half term last year and stayed in a Disney hotel, sequoia lodge. It would have cost us about £750 for the 4 off us (2 kids aged 16&13) and that was 4 nights/5 days + tunnel, which I used may tesco vouchers for. But because my son who had just started an apprenticeship hadn't booked his holidays we waited a couple of days and the hotel went up by £100.   We only decided to go the beginning of September.

I was looking at the prices the other day and was surprised at how much they charging at the moment for stays. I'm going to book a ferry and wait it out, it is so handy stopping in the hotel. As we were in the park for 8am coming out just after dinner and going back for a rest then going back into the park until it closed at 10. The weather was gorgeous as well.

I will say the food in the park was horrendously priced, I take a lot of snacks and we were still paying at least 150€ a day on food and it's only burgers and chips.

If the prices don't come down drastically, you may see us stopping on the 4 vents site as well. Which ever you decided you'll have a fab time.

We have done Disney Paris and stayed at the Santa Fe, which was basic but very handy, but that was when we had only one child and before she started school, so were able to go in term time. Flipping school holidays grrrr!

Really glad to see this thread :-)

We're planning an Oct holidays Disney/Paris visit. I had looked at the DLP hotels too, eye watering to say the least! We're planning on buying annual passes from CE multi, so really only want a site that rents and has good access to both Paris and DLP. The Scottish holidays are the 10th of October(when are the English?) so I'm hoping the weather will be decent..
What site would you recommend for staying at during this time - Le Chene Gris, 4 vents, la Croix?? I think chene Gris might have best and easiest access to Paris out of these 3?

Apologies for slight hijack Franny..

I'm looking at 4 vents but Dorset holiday is W/C 27th Oct but as I said the site closes for the season 31st???? So probably need to look elsewhere.

Thanks!

I've just been reading reviews on here and TA for Chene Gris - they don't seem too bad? We're purely visiting for DLP and Paris, so most of the time we will be off-site, but it would be nice to have decent pools etc for the kids, in reality when we're going i doubt the weather will be good enought for this anyway. La croix and 4vents seem to have more outdoor space for the kids to run around/play football/bikes/scooters etc - but not sure its worth exchanging the location for this on this trip. As said previously, we're going to book annual passes via CE, so we will be going again next summer to get full use of these - so during this visit we will really need the good pool and outdoor space to allow the kids to blow off steam and to relax the day's we're on-site recovering from DLP

Chene Gris are on par with Eurocamp and Canvas for their prices the week we're looking at this October, 4vents still charge a flat rate of 560 euro for the chalets, this is okay during summer but its 250 euros dearer than the rest of the sites/companies..

We would take our own van, so the facilities are quite important to us. Plus we have a 10 year old and 2 year old, so somewhere for our oldest to play where she can make friends is quite important.
4 vents is the only site recommended by the CC, so that speaks volumes to me.
Must check out CE passes too as like you would be great to use them next year enroute somewhere.

We went October half term last year and it was great as they were in full Halloween mood which was brilliant

We stayed in a hotel -Paxton resort and Spa which is just a couple of junctions down from Disney on the motorway and was fantastic we paid £300 for 3 nights for 4 of us b&b ,it's a great hotel with a pool etc and so much cheaper than Disney hotel

Defintley worth getting annual tickets through Ce multi advantages -keep an eye out for there offers we go ours when they had buy and adult for about 130 Euro and get a child under 12 for 35 euro which is a bargin
Worth spend a bit more to get fantasy pass rather than the basic one as you get a lot more perks and the main one being you get the Disney extra hours which means you get in 2 hours before public

CE are currently doing a deal on the tickets - but for us its too early as you have to cash in your voucher within 6 months. We're not going until Oct, so will have to wait and see what they offer at the time
We did toy with a hotel and flying, but we're just going to drive and go to a campsite, bit more relaxing time that way.

Spoke to 4vents today, €200 more than other sites nearby for accommodation and nothing open - think we will save this one for next summer and go with the good transport links to Paris and DLP..
I would echo AK's advice above and get some passes that inc extra hours in the parks - only €20-30 euro dearer so worth it..

Another couple of reasons to go with fantasy pass is you get free parking which saves you 15euro a day so in the 6 days we have used our passes so far we have saved nearly the price of the pass

Also the blackout days are less and for instance the basic pass blocks out almost all the October half term were as the fantasy pass it's just the Saturday

We've done Disney 5 times in the last year including October half term and Feb half term. If you stay offsite buy a fantasy annual pass d- don't take cash) Also gives you 10% off food, drink and souvenirs in shops so you end up spending less than buying a 3/4 day ticket. You also get to do the 2 hours early access that onsite guests get which is needed in October half term. Check out www.disneylandparis.fr/ap for all info and blackout days. 31/10 is usually a blackout day. We have stayed twice at the adagio val d'europe aparthotel complex. great value and gives you more space than a hotel room. warm, clean and newly refurbed rooms. Right opposite val d'europe shopping centre with a huge auchan in it (biggest supermarket I have ever seen even in usa) Also stayed at camping l'etangs de fleuris but I suspect it will be shut Oct. Tried magic circus hotel - gorgeous and explorers hotel nice too. any questions just ask.

We are seasoned Disneyland Paris travellers both with and without Annual Passes and also both onsite and offsite.

Please be very aware that as of the turn of 2014 the likes of FNAC and CE Multiavantages can only sell annual passes to people with not only a French address, but as has been experienced over the last fortnight.... a French ID card. These passes are now only for French citizens. If you choose to buy you will be taking a massive chance on being able to enter the parks with said passes.

This does not apply to passes bought from DLP themselves.
