Hi, we're in our third year to Ile de Re, however left booking too late and needing to find an alternative location for our second week. Does anyone have any suggestions? We like Ile de Re because it offers everything in close proximity from beaches, harbours and villages with great restaurants and the safe cycling tracks. We've 2 children, 5 & 2, but this year my in-laws are joining us on their first trip towing a caravan so want it to be good for them. We'd be happy going further south for an hour or so, alternatively anywhere that's back en route to Calais, without losing the weather.
Any suggestions greatly received.
Thanks
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
How about the Loire - we really like the area around Saumur and there's some great sites there. We'd recommend http://www.campingchantepie.com/en/ , http://www.parcdemontsabert.com/ or Chantepie's sister site closer to Angers, the name of which escapes me. All good for a young family and caravans. Plenty to see and do in the area too. (and LOTS of wine tasting opportunities!!!!)
Noirmoutier is a pretty island off the South Breton/Vendeen coast. The main town doesn't have the wow factor of St Martin, but it is a tranquil place & I think that the beaches, especially in the north of the island, are better.
Good Luck!
It is a lovely site. We haven't been for a few years but I sent my sister there last year with her young family and they loved it too! I can highly recommend the zoo at Doue la Fontaine. Have a great holiday.
