Hello manda, welcome to the forum.

If you give us a clue about your plans, we can recommend better. Where are you crossing to? How long do you want to spend travelling through France?

Manda, If you use the camp site search at the top of the page then you'll be able to see other posters reviews of most of the camp sites. For example if you click michell8's link you'll find his review of Camping Naturiste Chm Montalivet from August 2009.

Most of the camp sites reviewed are 'normal' textile sites.

An update on CHM Montalivet site is that INF affiliate cards, ie British Naturism cards are no longer required & this is the case with virtually all French naturist sites now which is a good move meaning any camper who wants to give naturism a whirl can do so without having to pay extra to 'join the club'. Only 4miles up the coast you have the even bigger Euronat so plenty of choice for naturism in the area. The beaches at the front of both sites are official naturist beaches with public access from along the beach & there are also ajacent textile campsites if anybody just wants to use the naturist beaches.

thanks guys. we will be crossing from Dover to Calais so pretty much start there, have all summer really so no timeframe on it at the moment we would like to see lots so plan to go away for 2-3 months maybe.
the only definite stop is Hauteford in the Dordogne as i have relatives there we will go and stay with for a few days. i love pretty quaint country places to stop off at not so keen on bigger really touristy cities

as it will be summer wil the cards lie aici be a bit useless or are any of tgose still worth getting?

will look through the campsite review bit i didnt see that yesterday.

I don't think we've found many campsites that we wouldn't recommend to be honest.  Get yourself a good guide book - the Caravan Club Europe or La Guide Official and you'll be fine.

If you're away for two or three months then the ACSI Card will certainly be of use to you.  It offers some sites right up until the end of the third week in July and again from the end of the second week in August - so really only just four/five weeks when you can't use it.

You can just 'go as you please'.  In France you don't really need to plan ahead.  We often arrive, having booked our ferry to Calais, and then see where we should head by looking at weather forecasts.

Our first caravan tour was via Calais, then Burgundy (two sites), Provence (one site), Carcassonne (one site), Dordogne (one site) and back to Calais.  We didn't book anything in advance, and had no problems finding pitches.

Here's the route we use these days - which takes you down via Abbeville, Rouen, Chartres, Orleans, and then Vierzon for the Dordogne and south, or Clermont Ferrand for the Languedoc - and from there you could go onwards into Spain.  There are some overnight stop sites listed on there - and if you want longer stays I could recommend some good ones in many of the areas along that route. Dunkerque - Languedoc and how to avoid Rouen 1 and Rouen 2.  It's an easy, mostly non-toll route and there are stunning areas from Vierzon south - though north of that it's less than spectacular.  You could do a detour to the Loire area if you like Chateaux and wine, or into Burgundy if you like Chateaux and wine!  Or you could take an entirely different route altogether and go to the Alps or the west coast, or Alsace.  Once you're off the ferry then you can head in any direction you want - and we have been known to be on our way south to Italy, and then at the bottom of the Rhone Valley turn west instead of east and head to Spain instead!
