We have a portable fridge, a bit like the one featured in Francais' post but years older, and it's actually capable of making ice in the trays which sit on top of the cooling elements. More than enough to keep me in G & T's!!! It sits under our awning out ,of the sun. However, we've seen lots of people with them outside, round the back of the tent often between tent and hedge, with a small tarpaulin from the tent to the hedge to keep the rain off.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Also worth checking with site if proper full size fridges can be hired on site or locally if you struggle for room and only need it for ocassional trip
The one Kelper posted does look ideal and well priced i must say
We have just got a c40 mains only fridge. We have tried using it in the car with a 150 watt inverter and it seems to work perfectly well in the car. As Francois says it is more efficient than a 12volt cooler.
Hi John.
That is very interesting to know that you have got the C40 working via an inverter from 12v, I would have thought that the start up surge may have killed most inverters.
Have you tried running it with the temp set to max low, it would be interesting to know if the inverter can keep the CF40 going at -18DegC.
Next we will have a UKS member loading their American style walk in fridge, and running that of the car fag lighter socket via an inverter!
You have in effect converted your Mobicool C40 into a Waeco CF40 apart from the fact that your version is around £400 cheaper!.
