Well sorry if I hit a nerve, I don't normally make a habit out of offending people.
In my opinion it just seemed a very odd post to me, where you found it acceptable to joke about the wearing of swimming trunks while at the same time emphasising your own weight, muffin top, girth etc.

I used to be a skinny 6 footer. Now I'm a suedehead 6 footer with a belly and definitely not a Speedo type. Still, I'll hold my head up and wear my body with pride.
Enjoy the trip daleyboy and just do yer own thing.

Nothing odd about it at all - the wearing of speedos is a big issue for some and I know friends who would avoid at all costs somewhere they would have to wear tight style trunks. Its simply alien to many who holiday regularly anywhere other than France and who aren't proper swimmers.
None of which changes the fact that off your own back, pointing out someone's potential health issues is simply rude.
