Hi, we are looking at a good base in Normandy for next summer (2015) we have two children (3 & 8) ideally somewhere with really good pools and fun for the kids.
Any help much appreciated
Thanks

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
CHateau De Martragny might suit you. Decent enough pool, fishing, tennis, sports field, etc. Halfway between Caen and Bayeaux. Very convenient for the D-Day beaches, Bayeaux tapestry, Caen war cemetry, Arromanches 360 cinema and just over an hour to Mt St Michel. Minus points - Castel chain (if that sort of thing annoys you) and a pitch on the driveway is nowhere near as good as the rest of the site.
If expense is no object and you want to stay on site a lot have a look at Domaine Des Ormes which is very near Mt St Michel (in fact I think it technically might be just inside Brittany). Another Castel site, and busy, but it really is the last word in pools and family activites.

We've stayed at Martragny. I have to say I wouldn't recommend it. It may have changed though as it was a few years ago. When we stayed the facilities were despartely in need of a clean, and the shop was a complete rip-off - even allowing for the usual premium added for a campsite shop.
We've used Camping Haliotisa couple of times and have been very happy with it. Sort of place we wish we had known about when our children were young. The petting area with rabbits, guinea pigs and goats always seems to have young visitors.
Think they may also do some pitches with there own private bathroom if you really want to push the boat out cost wise.
Its very near to Mont St Michel, we've cycled from the site before, so not in the middle of Normandy. The advantage though is that you could explore a lot of Brittany as well from here.
The main road from Caen to Rennes is a short drive away and you can hop on and off this road to get to other parts of the region and down into Brittany.
Haliotis for me too in fact we will be there again this summer, lovely site with some quite large serviced pitches, river runs just behind the site with free fishing.
