I would be very hesitant in using any gas appliance that is behaving like that. The cadac is obviously faulty and that isn't typical of cadac cooking.

we have checked where the flames come out of the little holes and the plate is slightly bent letting more gas come out hence more flames, hotter plate at one side. we know we need to get one soon just don't know what to go for. Had a Cornish pasty from Padstow tonight with jersey royals carrots and gravy tonight, yum, 3 nights to go, may cook using cooker rather than cadac then look around for a new one, thanks for all your input folks. J x

You can buy spares for Cadac , also maybe worth using footpump to blow through the gas nozzle to ensure all clear.
Had a blockage recently after it wasn't burning cleanly and turned out something was blocking nozzle and gas wasn't flowing through - perfect now and turned out a 2 minute fix after trying to take it all apart!

Not sure which one you have but the low pressure one works better I have heard from many people and have never had problem with it not getting hot enough

If less than two years old don't forget will be under warranty

Yes, but it makes for a big frying pan. I've managed sautéed potatoes for 9 on our Cadec in the past.



Having tried quite a few options we now just use a portable gas cartridge stove with different sized frying pans, which does for most things. Using more than one stove is easy enough too.

Outdoor cooking is one of the greatest pleasures of camping. The obligatory bottle of wine ain't bad either.

  Same as Frogman with us. We use an electric multicooker bought for £18 in B and M's. We also have a gas 2 burner stove.

The BeauClaire cookers are good but rather expensive to buy, l have one of the original Club sized ones which l used to use for charity catering at events, and it was capable of turning out anything from portions of chips to bacon butties in quantities enough to feed a whole campsite.

They do much smaller versions now, they are really robust and very versitile, look very similar to the unbranded grill in the Ebay link above, but a bit more chunky and sturdy, with a range of pans and griddles.

If you always have an EHU when you camp I'd go with the Teppanyaki.

If you really want gas then stick with a standard twin burner Campingaz hob and take some pans.

We use a small fire pit with charcoal for meat (swapping to logs to toast our toes in the evening) and a single gas hob (briefcase type) to boil the veg.
