If your paying for holiday itself eg to the campsite get their account number and use an outfit called tranferwise far cheaper than bank transfers ..I use them to transfer my salry to whtever UK funds I need. As I am paid in euros Im lucky to have a euro card from the bank but fairfx also do a euro card

Post Office credit card has no charges for use abroad.
We use HSBC debit cards for ATMs as we have plus account so no transaction charges, and you get travel insurance.( there is a monthly fee)

Francais, as Berriow has suggested, the interest charged is really small. As you rightly said though, all cash withdrawals are subject to interest charges whether there is a withdrawal fee or not.
We have a DD set up to clear the card if we haven't already paid it off by the end of the month. Also, we do not enjoy the pleasure of being able to saunter off for the winter, so it's a maximum of a three week trip for us (unfortunately) and therefore we won't be racking up lots of debt on the card.
We also have our TAG set up so the charges are on the Clarity card and, again, we therefore lose nothing in charges each month it is used.
For us it was the best card out there and took ten minutes online to be approved for it.

Yep Robbo, see your point and as the Halifax Clarity CC pays £5 reward I guess that would cancel out any interest you get charged on cash.
But I am a tight wad, and that was the reason why I went for the N&P Debit Card for cash only.
And use the Halifax Clarity CC for all none cash transactions, and like you say when you pay the monthly statement of in full no interest of course along with that £5 reward.

According to Money Saving Expert, Nationwide CC has 2.5% ATM fee and 27.9% on Cash! not quite the deal that it used to be I guess.

Just looked at the T&C's and it says £10 per month to get Free € transactions, if you don't pay the £10 per month then it's £1 per transaction.
As they say, the devil is in the detail.
So I think the N&P Debit Card is still the best deal in town for getting € cash whilst in France.

Yep Saxo, I would imagine that one day N&P will start to make charges, in the mean time they continue to lull a shed load of folk in like me, and then like what the Nationwide did was to start charging when it had previously been free.
I guess it's just a matter of time before N&P do the same.
By the time folk have realised, and made the decision to move on to the next free DC or CC the bank has made a whole bucket load of money, and so it goes on.
To the consumers the charges are almost insignificant, but the Banks make millions, going for a completely no charge card like what N&P currently offer on there DC is not about saving money, but more about the principle.
Whilst on holiday in France for 3 weeks, We probably only go through £700 in cash, so even if there were charges that added to a CC spend of another £600 it would probably amount to less than a fiver overall in charges, but as my old dad says, better in your pocket than there's.

Just checked on Nation wide web site and with Flex account current account there is no charge for withdrawals from ATMs abroad using your debit card but there is a charge for purchases made abroad. 1.72% is what is quoted for purchases made using the debit card.

Have another look I think the rates you quote are referring to purchasing cash or withdrawals within the UK,for.
Outside the U.K.
the rates are,
Non Sterling Transaction fee £1.72 (2%)
Non Sterling cash fee £1.00
Total cost =£2.72

Of course it can all be a little academic, as in the UK, you will find abroad ATM's that make a charge no matter what deal you have with your CC/DC provider but such machines have to display that there is a charge, and how much it is, robbing bar stewards that they are, although some would argue it is the price of convenience.
