We are driving to Spain for the first time this year (8 of us in two cars) We are stopping on the way out in Paris for a three day stay in a villa whilst we take the children to disney and then setting off to Spain for a two week stay.
We are staying with family whilst there and not camping.
On the return we are looking at driving for approx 10 hours and then staying over night in France before setting off again the following morning to calais.
The children are young and are fine travelling int he car and entertained with dvd player etc, however we dont want to be taking the longest route back.
Has anyone got any route recommendations they could offer, so I can look at hotels, b&bs for our return.
Many thanks

Hi Foxylady.
Spain is a huge country. It would help if you gave contributers a clue as to where you are going.
The route to the Picos would be more than a little bit different from Valencia, say!

Hi Foxy Lady. I've travelled several routes to this part of Spain. I would recommend using via michelin for times etc but the routes I've followed were the A9 in France then either the A61 to join the A20 which is free until you get to the A71 at Vierzon and then on up from there or the A75, also free until Clermont-Ferrand where again you join the A71. The A75 is by far the more scenic of the two and takes you across the Millau Viaduct. Time wise I can't say as in all cases I've been towing a caravan but I would think you'd easily get to Vierzon in less than 10 hours which is why i say use via michelin to get the times. Hope this help a bit.

Hi I also would agree with Mike. We have travelled that route quite few times, we have stayed at a few places, although not campsites, in Dreux, Issoire and Clermont Ferrand.
If you are at Estartit I can recommend a trip to Pals and the picturesque beaches around Palafrugell such as Port Bo. Also been to Estartit market, which is worth a look (Thursdays?).
