Going to France in a couple of weeks with the caravan.
It's a couple of years since I last went and want to make sure that I'm carrying all the required crapola!
So here goes......car's V5 document, current MOT certficate, current insurance certficate with European cover shown, breathyliser kit, hi-viz jackets, red triangle, headlight beam converters, spare bulbs for both car and caravan.
That's it. Have I left anything out? I'll bet there's some glaringly obvious omission!!!!!! Please let me know.
Cheers!
Vic

First aid kit and fire extinguisher?
I think it is the law to render assistance in case of an rta.
Oops double post.

First aid kit & fire extinguisher is not a legal requirement in France, they do indeed have a law that requires anybody around an accident to assist where they can so in theory you could get nicked for "non-assistance à personne en danger" if you didn't but nothing to worry about really.
Its like the law requiring spare car bulbs to be carried. Although it is still law it is not enforced because it is accepted that car bulb changing is not diy for most folks today.
So yes, for the op, that about covers it.

Fire ext, spare bulbs, spare spectacles, first aid kit are not mandatory but you are advised to carry them.
If you want to be strictly legal then one high viz vest and one breathalyser and if towing you need 2 triangles.

Although not a legal requirement an essential piece of kit is the map reader and site finder otherwise known as the wife.
Never leave home without one.
