If my OH took up 'Maggot  Drowning' or whatever you choose to call it, we would be getting a quickie divorce.

My idea of a happy husband in France is the evening after an afternoon wine tasting he is sat reading on his kindle until well after dark, then waking me to tell me about the bats and any other creature he happens to spot.......while he polishes off a bottle of the red stuff!   

You will note from my many blogs that there is a tendency towrads staying in areas with vineyards; Bordeaux, Burgundy,Chablis etc...the exception being the Alps.

Cat - happy with anywhere that affords fabulous views, and it is peaceful, and where I can go out and do a few hours on the bike (preferably hilly). OH won't come out with me if I do hilly routes, so he reads I ride.

mmm, yes I agree don't like Brits on holiday, this is why we avoid Brittany and Port Grimaud. Not that I ma generalising.

We live in a multi cultutral worlld these days, so high street s are now the same the world over.

We both love to go to the food markets and try new things.

My other pet hate is 'entertainment', unless it is a classical recital but these sites that mention the 'E' word get a swift divert.

My OH have been married just 23 years and pre me BC (before Catharine) he had never been camping, certainly not in France. We have been heading for France for the past 17 years now, so I guess I have a happy husband in France.

If we all liked the same things life would be boring.

Someone mentioned it earlier that they like  France for the culture, I entirely agree...we go to France to absorb the culture. I love speaking French too and receiving that beam of appreciation from the other side of the conversation.

Kelper, OK smart **se, but you know this is a common saying for 'embrace the place'.

You guys will whince when you know how we sometimes close the day.......we sometimes play scrabble, with a French twist.  We also play RUDE scrabble, this does NOT include forfeits but that could be quite entertaining!  Of course this is fuelled with local nectar.
