Book in advance, although if you are early they may let you on an earlier crossing. Whe we used to travel from Dover we always had to build in delay contingency with the M25, so it was good knowing we had the option. We always go Hull - Zeebrugge these days, and as there is only one crossing and it is an overnighter (cabins only) we have to book months in advance to get what we want and at a reasonable price (it is silly money believe me). the other advantage is that we are rested, where as at Dover we have a long drive, then a short crossing before we hit the road again. Goodness knows whatwe'd do if they stop the Hull route, and it is on the cards I think. Hull was purely a freight port at one time, and I don't think it is cost effective for them. We paid £669 but we are going CLUB and have meals in the barsserie included, but still it is daft money...but we work, have one big holiday a year so we may aswell enjoy it while we can afford it.
