We are staying in France again this summer for the 4th time but it is the first time our eldest girls have slept in the awning. It's a fairly lightweight awning (Kampa) with an annex and inner tent. We will try to pitch so the awning gets some shade but any suggestions on a) how to keep it cool and b) how to keep the mosquitoes out?
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Many people swear by a garlic tablet every day for a month prior to holiday to ward off the midges. We've been in France for four weeks now with no problems but to be honest not seen many of the little blighters. But don't know if that's because of the tablets or not
------------- Mother Nature always wins in the end.
We told our teenagers last year that keeping their annexes (one at each end of awning ) spotlessly tidy ensured that there was more movement of cool air.
Didn't work though
We didn't have huge issues with mossies but do buy those burning sticks to ward them off.

Roflol, will have to remember to try that with my two this year.
A cheap mosquito net, hanging from the awning poles? We took one with us to France as our son was planning to join us. In the event it didn't happen, but we put it up in the caravan one very mosquito-ridden night and it saved us from being bitten at all. I think it cost us just £13 and was worth every penny - so much so that we've decided on a semi-permanent fix to rig it up every night.

Val may be worth posting as a tip on how you fix it all up, sure my OH would like one of these as she hates anything tiny with wings
