I'm trying to decide on a campsite/location for this summer's holiday (August).
My criteria/likes/needs are:
Near a beach and a small town/large village for restaurants, boulangeries etc. My husband likes fishing so that would be handy.
Public transport available so we don't need to keep driving
Quiet-ish site - we're not fussed about pools/bars/entertainment on site. Good for tents.
Possible a municipal site. Drivable from le Havre.
We're interested in D Day beaches etc but not really overly bothered about the Bayeux Tapestry. Walks or places of interest nearby.
My current possibilities are Camping Municipal le Champ de Course in Courseulles or Camping Municipal Arromanches les Bains in Arromanches (sorry, don't know how to do links anymore!). I like these because of their low-keyness (apparantly - I may be wrong) and their location (beach & near D Day beaches).
I started off looking at Etretat & Fecamp but went off them as I was worried that there wasn't too much going on around there (again, I may be wrong!).
However, I'm open to suggestions! I'd go inland if the beach was reachable by bus as we don't like to use the car a lot on holiday. Also, the campsite is as important than the location so, if I came across an interesting campsite I would prefer that to a over-the-top flashy one, regardless of where it was. I want something clean and low key and friendly with bonuses like fresh daily bread (very cliched!).
Please help if you can!
