Personally, and sorry for interrupting, but if you don't mind paying tolls then that would be the best route - so long as you keep to the outer Paris ring road rather than the peripherique.

The Rouen route is generally the preferred route for those who don't want to pay tolls - reads like RV is amongst that group!!

Unfortunately we don't use a SatNav so I wouldn't know how to programme it to not just do the 'shortest' route, which would take you (I imagine) via central Paris!  That must have been some experience!

Have a look at Google maps, and follow the route of the E104 on the map.  Keep an eye on a map on your journey, and when you get to the Charles de Gaulle airport turn off at the next junction, and take the E104 (Francilienne) which takes you a bit back on yourself, and around outer Paris - keep following the direction 'Bordeaux' and you'll keep on the right road.  Eventually it joins up with the N10 and from there you can head to Orleans.
