Researched several French sites and even though I have a French bank account, the costs work out about the same as the annual charges vary loads. Also setting up a UK contract would be easier in case of dispute. It is a convenience so not worth scrimping on a few Euros just in case.
BTW
Whats the news going through Rouen as the past couple of years have been a nightmare!?
One to avoid until around mid August. We're going via Yvetot to the north.
Oh help! We have booked first night hotel in Novotel Rouen sud before heading down to serignan near Perpignan. First time been to France, didn't know Rouen was a problem !! We'll be travelling through midweek end of July and again midweek mid Aug. Is it really that bad?....what are the issues? navigating/busy traffic?
Thanks! Jo

Yep Kelper that's fine, but what happens when your ATMB Tag conks out whilst you are France, I doubt that the APRR offices on the Southern autoroute's will exchange it, and same goes for the SANEF offices on the Northern autoroute's.
It would be a jip, if the ATMB Tag can only be exchanged at the Mont Blanc office?
For those with the ATMB Tag, I would be seeking clarification, as sure as eggs are eggs, the battery in your Tag will eventually run out.
Same goes for those with saneftollinguk Tag's.
Have had a response from ATMB re this:
Nous répondons à votre Mail du jeudi 14 avril 2016 et nous vous en remercions.
vous avez la solution d'appeler une personne a la borne de donner votre numero de Badge pour que la trasaction soit faite ,
et revenir dans point de vente pour changer votre badge qui ce trouve au Peage de Nangy 382 rue de l'enclos 74380 Nangy
Hope that answers your question, Francais.

Or by email/post as per initial start .... or get it mailed to you at a french address (camp site) if you are there for three days or so ... they are pretty swift when needed in a hurry.
Yep, not quite as convenient then as having an APRR or Bip & Go (French issued SANEF) Tag.
I don't see having the TAG sent to your campsite as a viable option, as it could get delayed in the post, and arrive after you have left.
Also you would probably discover as we did, that the TAG has stopped working when you get to your first Peage, so with ATMB that would mean the rest of the journey being without a TAG, fine if you don't want to use the Fast 2m Height Restricted lanes, but not so good if that's what you got the TAG for in the first place, like we did.
I wonder what the situation is for folk who have the saneftollinguk TAG ?.

We used the fast 2m lane ... until this month ... have changed from the Pennine to a caravan ... so 2m no longer an option.
The right hand side lorry lane is often free .... or an empty lane elsewhere ... still much faster and less hassle free than card/cash methodology ... and OH can peacefully slumber on!
I think I may renew every three years to avoid any hassle ...
Yep for me that would be the deal breaker with the ATMB Tag, in that the only place that you can get it exchanged is at the Peage office on the A40 near Nangy close to the Mont Blanc Tunnel.
Will be sticking with our APRR and Bip & Go Tag's, all bases covered should one of them develop a flat battery.
Another good solution as others have mentioned, is to simply return your Tag every couple of years or so, for a replacement, little cost in that maybe only postage.
Just a pity that the battery is not servicible, then all you would need is a spare battery at hand just in case.

I oredered a tag via ATBM on monday using a promo code, and recieved an e-mail on tuesday to say it had been posted. Watch this space.
The tag arrived this morning. This may be a daft question but as I didn`t have to state what type of vehicle I drive on the application, how do ATBM know that I am in a MH?
