In the garden more than likely or perhaps at the local horse racing at Le Dorat followed by the fireworks at the Mairie.

Many places have the fireworks during the evening of the 13th.

Haven`t been in France on Bastille Day for a few years now since our holiday dates were changed.

What I do remember the last time we were there was an amazing firework display (along with a massive storm with torrential rain and thunder and lightening) which set off all the car alarms. We were in Aigue Mortes (within the walled town), and all the cars were parked outside the walls.

This gave the local scroats the opportunity to lob bricks through a lot of car windows to get access and remove anything they could. More than a little annoying (!), especially as the car was only three weeks old, and we were due to catch a ferry the following day - only 600 miles away. We were told by our insurers there wasn`t the correct piece of glass in France, so the best they could do was get a bit of plexiglass fitted to get us home. I set off to get this fitted, got lost on a small industrial estate and stopped at a little backstreet car windscreen place to ask directions. I was stunned when the guy produced the door glass I needed - genuine VW in the correct shade - and fitted it whilst i waited for a mere 60 euros. Brilliant.

Bastille night is great, I`d just be a little more careful in future.

We are going to be in Nancy on Bastille Day. We are watching the Tour De France arrive on the 11th and leave again on the 12th.

We will be loitering about for the Bastille day before heading back home on the Tuesday.

Struggling to find out exactly what is happening where though.

We were in Veynes last year and it was a great day/night
