Friends booked on ferry at 9ish in morning, but thinking they are going to try get an earlier ferry perhaps around midnight. I know we've done this before a d got a small charge, wasnt My Ferry though.

Wondered if anyone has experience of My Ferry, know what the likelihood of getting on an earlier ferry tonight/early hours 2m and what charge may be.

Thanks!

No one can say.....it depends how many freight bookings they have, who's on the desk, what mood she's in, how charming the man in your life is, whether her boss has told her to screw every last penny from the tourists, whether she will accept a cash bribe..... Etc.

We've tried most of those with some success and no success. Others will tell other stories. So suck it and see.

Let us know.

Good one Berriow!

We fell victim to a charmless, sullen, jobsworth check-in clerk at Portsmouth when we were just a few minutes late for our sailing (and only got on our sailing eventually thanks to another nice smiley one in the next booth) BUT what it did was make us determined never to give them our business again!  So they've lost out by trying to make us wait two days for 'the next sailing in your cheap band' - caravans were free on the sailing we'd booked!

This time we used both P and O and DFDS and on both occasions got on an earlier ferry, with a smile!  We've used one or other since the Portsmouth incident!

Well friends arrived at Dover 10pm and are getting on the 11.45pm ferry for an extra £20 per unit. They are happy with that.:)

We always arrive early for our Ferry crossing this year we are booked on the 4pm but will probably get on the 11am crossing.

So 5 hours early for us, we have always found that if you are early they will let you on with no extra charge, of course if you are late and miss your crossing, then you are at there mercy, and should expect an extra charge, no means always the case I am told though.

I only speak for the Dover crossings, never been with My Ferry but I guess they all operate in a similar adhoc way, dependant on the operative in the booth at the time.

Four years ago ... arrived exactly 24 hours LATE for ferry in France (DFDS) ... don't ask why!
They got us on with no charges ... human kindness!

In May I booked with DFDS on Dover to Calais for a Saurday morning sailing. On arrival at check in I was informed that I had booked for Sunday morning!! Had to go to the office to change the ticket and was informed that the ferry was fully booked and I had to buy an amendment for Dunkirk which cost me more than the original ticket and added an extra 2 hours to my trip. Won't do that again!! (I hope)

MyFerry link Charged us £10.00 to use the Earlier Ferry. DFDS have always allowed us to get the earlier ferry, without charge.

Have just come back a week early.

Left Neufchatel Ste Claire around 10 on Tuesday morning. Stopped at the last service station outside Calais at one o'clock to phone DFDS (NEC Show tickets). We were offered any time so I said soonest please, nice lady asked where we were and put us on 4 o'clock from Dunkirk.

Arrived at Dunkirk at quarter to two and found ourselves on the 2 o'clock ferry! Arrived at Dover at 3 o'clock.

Only charge was £10 for change which was part of this year's deal and the customer service was fantastic.

Hoping that DFDS will still be at the NEC in October!! Can't fault them.
