Surely it will still be cheaper to take your own tent and you then have all your own things with you but using a pre erected tent just think of all the extra things you could take and all the room for wine on the way home. ....ooh decisions decisions

I've done both and have taken my own since 2003. Eurotent prices have gone through the roof in recent years, and they seem to be getting provided on fewer campsites since companies can charge silly money for statics.

You need to do the maths....Eurocamp et al can be cheaper outside of school holidays....if you want the all singing all dancing type of site. We don't and now book sites/ferries ourselves.

Hi you can purchase an ASCI camping card it comes with two books with campsites all over europe we have just done this in june for a week and saved 10 euros a night. Also some places do alfresco similar to eurocamp my friend did this with tesco clubcard points and saved a fortune. Personally cant beat your own tent.

Own tent is always cheaper. We are paying about 550 euro's for last two weeks in August. Would be a lot more in ready tent. Also after paying deposit, you don't pay anything till the end of your holiday and it's paid in euro so if pound is doing well (like this year) it becomes cheaper still.
Tips... Middle to end August cheaper. Peak season ends 15th this year. 16th onwards prices drop, last week of August they drop again.

Find a eurocamp site you like the look of and google it. All have their own websites that you can book a pitch on directly for cheaper prices than the operators (Castels, eurocamp etc) they also offer discounts such as 7nts for price of 6, 14nts for price of 12, 21 nts for price of 14.

If you have a tesco clubcard you can exchange points for 3x the valuefor eurotunnel crossings too, or look at cheaper ferry crossings. Dover to Dunkirk on dfds is cheaper than calais and only extra 30min drive when in france

We did our own tent this year in france compared to mobile homes and saved a fortune - yes you have to bring more stuff but a handly little camping trailer helped us out and for the money we saved on the holiday it was well worth it - cant wait to go again next year .

its not just eurocamp that you need to look at. we have used pre-erected tents all ove reurope but have used various companies, eurocamp , vacansoleil, canvas, aholiday are just some we have used. the last couple of years we have flown there and then used trains/buses etc to get around which we have found cheaper than ferries /fuel to drive down.

We live in France (Limousin) and have camped at eurocamp and with our own tent. In 2013 we went away for a month in France and Italy mixing it with eurocamp, an apartment and our tent. We go in September to avoid the mad holiday period in France (all the French holiday in August). Out of season eurocamp was not expensive. We were really glad we were in pre-erected tent whilst in the Ardeche (wonderful area) when there were three heavy storms in one night. We awoke to a pool in the outer area but our beds were dry!! Other campers were not so lucky!

Well we went in euro tents this year rather than take our own, we stayed on five differnt sites and wouldn't have enjoyed putting up and taking tent down every couple of days, also we looked at the prices on the sites we stayed on for taking our own and there wasn't much difference. Plus we went with another couple so shared the driving and petrol and shared the tent, therefore saving us quite a bit on diesel costs.

I would take my own tent if I was staying in one location but moving aground I prefer the ready erected. We went for ten days, did Luxemburg, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and France and it cost us, in total, spending money and everything just over £500 which I think is pretty good for a ten day holiday.
