Prices are 'normal' as far as I know but there is a Sainsbury at junction 9 (Ashford) and a Tesco at junction 10 (south Ashford).

But you certainly won 't get bacon sarnies at the French end of the tunnel!
Have a great holiday.

Prices are normal as in for train stations/airports. And certainly not my idea of a good bacon sandwich! Travelling after 10pm or before 5am you can have a Starbucks, but nothing else.

I'd rather have a decent bacon sandwich when I leave home.

I know this isn't quite what op was asking about but worth bearing in mind.

We were caught in the tail end of an incident at the French end waiting to come home last year. There was very little food available, even burger king was closed. We had to buy sandwiches and drinks in the newsagent type place at the terminal and paid a fortune for 4 sarnies, crisps and drinks. We only bough them cos we were told we would be stuck there for over 8hrs before we could travel. We weren't but it was sobering as I had planned food and drinks for journey but not potential overnighter. Will definitely be more prepared on our return this yr!

The Tesco at J10 has a cafe, as well as the usual sandwiches. It's also useful for last minute shopping if you forget to pack anything essential, like marmite or baked beans, whilst you grab a bacon sandwich!!

Hi

We either use the Tesco at junction 10 or (the Shame of it ;)) McDonalds at Maidstone Services - Mcdonalds at motorway services are the same price as on the High Street (unlike M&S Simply food etc) so are always decent value and a good coffee.

There is a burger king and sandwich bar at the tunnel but not open 24 hrs and expensive.

There is also a burger van in the loading lanes area (after call for boarding) for tea, soup or a burger / sandwich)

On the return journey we always call at Cite Europe for a final shop and food.

An alternative is if you carry a suitcase gas hob for camping - simply fry-up / brew up in the car park - others do .

Have a great holiday!

Guy.

There's a Leon restaurant at the Folkestone Terminal now. Their breakfasts are lovely and reasonably priced IMO. I've not tried the lunches there.

I have never found the Burger King on the French side open

We used this place at the British side and it was very good -

had an English breaky in the terminal building 4 or 5 years ago and it was ok. Last year disappointed as it was over cooked but luke warm! In the past they have had burger vans in the terminal car park and embarkation area. Didn't notice them this year though.
Regards Bob

I used Leon when I travelled a couple of weeks ago, they were doing breakfast & a coffee for £4, I had a couple of slices of toast as well which was £1.20, the coffee was £2.50 by itself & the breakfast pots were between £3-4 (I think). The breakfast was really nice & enough for me for breakfast, I had the full English pot. I had to wait about 5 minutes for my food, but was happy to do as it was hot when it arrived. If you have a look at the Leon site you can see what they do.

There was a coffee shop just opening, & starbucks was open. I was there between 5am-6am, Leon had a steady flow of people. Starbucks had a queue & was busy, with no-one really at the other shop but it could be it hadn't really opened. I can't remember the last time I saw burger king open on the UK side.

If you come off M20 at junction 10 and go on to the A20 towards tunnel past Sellindge you will pass the Airport Cafe on the left- They do an anytime breakfast to die for. Its only about 10 mins from the tunnel and say hello to Julie the owner.

'Greasy Spoons'. Mmmmmmm. Rarely greasy. Usually great value. Usually the best bacon sarnies.

I'm wondering if there is a guide to all the excellent roadside butty vans? (sorry to butt in on this post).
