As far as we are concerned, it is no contest -Rouen every time. Done the Paris one a few times and always had problems, never had any real problems going the Rouen way.

Enjoy your holidays, we cannot wait until 2 weeks on Friday when we set off. Will be interesting to know how it goes, especially if you do go the Rouen way. Love le Bugue market, have avoided it until 2 years ago as always busy to get through the town that day, but loved it when we decided to go to it.

The A89 starts (or finishes, depending on your direction) north of Brive, so I think what Janet means is not to take the D704 towards Montignac, but to carry on the A89 towards Perigeux and take the D710 through Rouffignac.  Looking at the map, this does appear to be a more sensible route to Le Bugue than via Montignac (we were heading for a site much nearer to Sarlat when we used that route).

No Val - we take the D31through Rouffignac, I think he should take the D710 through Douze to le Bugue. as it is a more direct route and a decent road. Le Douze is hosting the Occitan festival Felibree in 2015!

And yes A20 to Brive then A89 from Brive to near Perigueux.

Thanks Janet - don't know what's wrong with me tonight - perhaps too many glasses of wine at Buon Apps, with friends!  Post now edited accordingly.
