Hello,

Help!! this area is a mine field....

I would like to ask for some advice please. I have a "ERDE 122 Trailer 4ft x 3ft,and intend to take it to the south of france in the summer.
I drive a Freelander 2 and have been looking into the new road rules, its a mine field.
Do I need to put the speed notification discs on the trailer i.e 80, 90kph.
The weight rule is throwing me a bit. my car weighs 2 tonne and the trailer is only 400kg so under the 3500tonne....but other sites are saying I'm over the 3.5tonne (something called Train Weight)

Is there any other things you think I should know as this is our first camping holiday to France?

Thank you so much

Forget the stickers. I have a Freelander2, live in France and often tow a trailer and yes the train weight is over 3.5Tonnes and therefore, when towing, officially you will be restricted to the reduced speed limits.

Personally I keep to the normal speed limits but don't usually go above 110kph on the motorway.

Hi walker.
Have a look at the Caravan Club website which explains the situation quite clearly.
It is nothing to do with the weight of the trailer.
Yes, you are restricted to 80 or 90 kph but although a legal requirement it is understood that the 'sticker' rule won't be enforced. They are only a few bob so it is up to you whether or not you use them.
With relatively small wheels, personally, I would stick to the 80/90 limits.
