Hi everyone we are going to head over to annecy early sept can anyone recommend a site that's on the lake edge and walking distance to either annecy or a nice town with shops and places to eat. Also any suggestions on the best part of the lake to go. Many thanks andy

Don't think there are many sites close to Annecy itself but plenty towards the bottom of lake at Doussard. Le Revoire scores highly and Lac Blue was nice when we were there. I'm sure some people will reply who have been more recently than us to update the site situation. Doussard used to have a couple of nice places to eat apart from the campsites within walking distance (again someone may give more up to date info).
From Doussard catch the lake bus to Annecy (which is within walking distance of most of the campsites there) as it circumvents the lake and you will see lovely places to drop off (I think a day pass allows you to get off and on as you please).
It is a beautiful place and in September should not be too crowded. Hope you have a lovely holiday wherever you stay and to whet your appetite hare are a couple of photos.
We were there last September and the lake bus was not operating! We thought it would be and were very disappointed. For restaurants Le Bistro de Port at Sevier was lovely.Good priced lunch and great position on the lake. We stayed at les rives du lac at sevier which now has amazingly brilliant loo complex etc. It has direct access to the lake with little piers and a small beach. the pitches are average size, no hedges, and a bit regimented but the advantages outweighed this. direct access to cycle path (Busy). We would return. hope you have good weather!

We have stayed at camping lac Bleu in Doussard and loved it - It goes very quiet from the las week in August so I would say you would stand a good chance of getting a lakeside pitch.
You can join the cycle path directly over the road for a traffic free and very scenic ride up to Annecy town.
Doussard is short walk away with a supermarket but not many restaurants although there is a nice restaurant almost next door to the site overlooking the lake.
In september you are likely to get some very impressive thunderstorms.
The views from the site are stunning and change as the light changes during the day . You may not need restaurants just a BBQ and a glass of wine.
Guy.
