Municipal campsites are often not set up to accept bookings.  I don't know this one, but one we stayed on recently just had a chap turn up about 7.00 pm to collect fees from anyone who was there, and there was a notice on the board stating 'If no one has collected your fee before you leave, just pop the money in the honesty box in the wall'.  People did, too!

There are municipal sites at Bernay which is between Rouen and Sees, at Gace (before you reach Sees) and Alencon (after Sees) so other options - and there will be privately run sites too.  Generally campsites are quite well signposted, and it's usually easy enough to find a site from a main road (although not so easy from the autoroute).  If you have a SatNav you should find it has POI's for campsites somewhere in the 'system' so when you need to stop just ask it to find one.

If you can get somewhere just a little earlier (say between 4 and 5pm) you should have no trouble finding a pitch, and if not then you could email the other alternatives and ask if they accept bookings, just to put your mind at rest.

We are off a week tomorrow on our first trip to France with the caravan. We are booked in for all our nights in 4 different locations over three weeks. I am very excited and cant wait. Thinking the yvetot route to avoid rouen on the way down.
I am a bit worried about mossies as they like me, dont know if they are prevalent in France.
But my main anxiety is about our first night which will be an overnight stop, on the way to La Palmyre, and i havent got it booked.
Looking around Sees, so the clos normand site seems favourite, but i have emailed them 3 times to book it, and have had no reply.
Dont know whether to turn up there and see what there is (will be about 6pm), or whether to try on a services??. Or somewhere else. Just want to get past Rouen before we stop for the night and should land at Calais at 2pm.

IF you are using a sat nav beware that they will often route you through the tunnels in Rouen. these tunnels are too low for caravans & once entered it is almost impossible to reverse out or turn round so be on your guard
