So this year was the first year we have taken the Caravan to France - and we loved it - I can say I am converted to the ways of the Caravans.

Im now planning our Holiday for next year, and would love some idea's from you more "Seasoned" Campers.

We (Wife, Daugter (12) Son (8)) are thinking about some sort of beach holiday with the caravan - Would love to hear suggestions - We live in Glos so its a good 6 hours from the Tunnel..

Thoughts on a postcard please guys..

Jez

How about the Vendee, plenty of sites and locations to consider, not a ridiculous distance from the tunnel or you could use the longer ferry crossings and reduce driving distance/ time. What time of year and what sort of site you thinking of

How long will you be going for?

How long do you want to drive in a day?

The beaches on the west coast (Atlantic) are better than those in the Mediterranean, but the water is colder and less likely to have good weather.

Will you drive from Gloucester to the tunnel to go to the west coast of France? That's a very indirect route compared with ferries from Portsmouth.

It would be helpful to know your dates, what sort of sites you like, and if you want beach, inland mountain, lake, riverside?  Plus what others have already asked, of course.

I can see you went to Disneyland Paris this time, from your reviews of Jablines, via Le Paille Haute as a stopover so is there an area you're thinking of for next year?

If your plans for the tunnel aren't fixed, then it might be worth looking at the Caravan Club website, where you can save a considerable amount on some crossings, on the Brittany Ferries own prices, and if you buy Camping Cheques as part of a package you may bring the ferry cost down even further, bearing in mind that if you can't use the cheques yourself, there is always a market for them on forums such as this one at an agreed price to both parties.

Hi Guys

Planning probably first two weeks in August.

Im not so good on Ferries, and am afraid I could be Ill (Wife does not tow)..

Personally I would like a beech type of holiday, With Freshwater lake fishing.
Im so new to Caravaning its hard to know what distances we can safely cover. To give you an idea I drove from Glos to Le Paille Haute in 6 hours (Using the tunnel), and was fine but I want it to be a holiday, so a stop off is good..

Would love to hear about Vendee, not a name i know.
Somewhere nice, sites to see, swimming, fishing stuff for kids (Including me LOL) to do..

Look forward to the replies - and thank you in advance !

We've just enjoyed 2 weeks at the RCN campsite at Ferme du Latois. You may want to take a look at their site. They have fishing on site and a lake just down the road...Lac Journay. Lovely 'huge plots'. Could recommend 71 or 72. Plenty of other good ones. The web site has an interactive map so you can see views of the plots.
