No, if the card is fee free, then you won't pay anything extra on top of the toll charges. We use ours on the very rare occasions when we use a toll road.
I presume you can pay cash for the Tolls like the M6 toll?

Yes, you can pay tolls with cash. Sometimes there's a manned booth, if it's an automatic one then the best thing is to look at the display where the cost is given then put in the lowest denomination note you have which will cover that charge. It will give you change. Better than doing what we saw one English car in front of us - looking at the toll, throwing in one coin, then looking back, examining the change in their hand, throwing in another coin, and so on................! It must have taken them ten minutes to count up to the cost of their toll!
I live on Merseyside. We get that "penny at a time" thing on the Mersey Tunnels, despite having massive signs with the tolls clearly written!
Its brilliant during the rush hour!
Using tolls at the moment. Have always paid in cash but accidentally got in the 'cartes' queue the other day. It's so much faster. You don't even key a pin in and you have the option to press a button for a receipt to keep a track. We will be using this option in the future.
