We are looking to go camping in Spain next year in our tent in 2015. Can anyone recommend any campsites that aren't too commercial. We don't really want to go to a 'resort' kind of campsite. We just like having a nice view, perhaps a little shop to get the necessities and a swimming pool for the kids, close to some lovely beaches and a friendly local village to walk to etc. Everything I seem to look at has holiday clubs, evening entertainment etc which then means the prices are quite expensive etc. Thanks :-)
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
You may have more luck on the Atlantic coast, or a few miles inland on the med.
Also compare prices during the last week or two of Aug / start of Sept, to the start of the hols. We're currently on a big site on the med, in a pre erected tent thing at Torre del Sol.
Its a big 5 * site but I'm sitting here looking at palm tree tops, listening to the waves. I wouldn't believe there's a disco on the same site. I cant even hear the crap entertainment we were at 20 mins ago. The tent pitches below us have really emptied out and loads of capacity, with 5 mins walk to the beach.
Have a look in the Calella area of the Costa Brava.
Beware, there are two Calella's. One is the original 60's package holiday destination and the other one is named Calella de Palafrugall, just north of Palamos. The area is very 'Cornwall' with little coves and a good atmosphere.

We've used this site - http://www.rocagrossa.com/ 3 times now and going back in October for the Ironman. A private walk to a safe shelved beach, about a 10 minute easy walk to the 60's style Callela which is great. miles of sandy beaches, trains to Barcelona
