Hi.
Starting to think about next years summer holiday. Was originally thinking Dordoigne, but as we have to go first two weeks in August think it may be too busy.
Went to Rhone Alps this year, and now fancying coastal holiday.
Looking at Royan/ LA Rochelle area. Starting to get campsite confusion.
Any recommendations, ideas. We like to stay in site near a town/village ideally within walking distance. Not too far from beach and a pool as teenagers with us.
Have thought maybe a municipal, but details reviews hard to find.
Forget to mention will be taking twin axle caravan so good size pitch essential.
Thanks in advance.
Milly

La Tranche-sur-Mere is a nice quiet ville close to sandy beaches and pine forests. They even have oyster fisheries if you fancy gulping down We had to buy our own oyster knife.
The campsite has both tents and mobile home so should accommodate you.

Camping Bel in Tranche sur Mer seems popular, if a little cosy and busy. Other than that, search on here for reviews or, on wider web, and review sites like Zoover or TripAdvisor etc.

Im a big fan of Bel but as above says it can feel small there is a 2nd campsite very close to Bel called Baie d anuis
gets a lot of returners slightly closer to town no eurocamp etc on there ( this is what take up 50% of Bel and makes it feel small)

We went to Camping La Garenne in Pont L'Abbe d'Arnoult for 3 years. It is a lovely site with 3 swimming pools, in a very pretty town, 20 mins from the coast & near to Brouage. I'd recommend there!
La Palmyre is a nice, if commercial, little town, but the traffic around it was awful this year and I don't think any of the nearby sites are in walking distance - you could always cycle if you have bikes with you. We stayed on La Pinede close by, but wouldn't really recommend it and I would imagine most of the pitches would be too small for a twin axle.
Just wondered what you didn't like about La Pinede veema? Having driven past it many times on the way to the Cote Sauvage (and looked longingly at the slides) I was going to recommend it to some friends who have younger children and want pools with slides. Do you hear a lot of noise from Luna Park?
You could hear Luna Parc, but that didn't really bother us. I've reviewed it here.
The water park was great and the other pool was also very nice, if very cold, but the pitches were terrible...there were one or two good sized pitches with no obstructions, but the rest were shady or had some obstruction, trees, water pipes sticking up, tiny...it just wasn't our cup of tea...
Hi
Thanks everyone for your ideas. Have been looking at sites in these areas and to get beach and close access to town is very difficult.
Now looking at Il de Re or Oleron. Think one of these might be ideal. Preferably municipal site due to location and price. We could still visit la Rochelle.
Apart from tolls on Il de Re, any views on best island.
Regards
Milly
