hi val, just rang d f d s to ask about whether they intend having a stand at the caravan show in october for ferry discount codes, they advised that the caravan club would be their on their behalf as you stated on a previous post, i get 10% discount through c s m a, just been qouted £112 for return journey dover /dunkirk at half term next may, with f c, do you have to be a member of the cc to get the 25% discount they are supposedly offering at the show, or will their be codes on offer after the show, didn"t want to jump in and book now if you think better discounts may be available in the next couple of weeks.
thanks, paul.

Hi Paul.
Val may come back with the definative answer.
We have since 2008 always booked using the DFDS (aka Norfolk Line) October Show Codes.
This year for July was £88 Dover-Dunkerque Car+Trailer return so £44 each way.
Back in 2008 was just £59!
Anyway I will be at the show on the Wednesday, and with a bit of luck I hope to get a decent deal for our July 2015 crossing, even though I am not a member of any club.

No sign of DFDS at the October show, though they might possibly have an online discount code around then?
thanks francais, unfortunately i cannot get to this years show, if you wouldn"t mind if any discount codes are available dropping us an e-mail when you get back from the show i would be most grateful, it is for a return crossing dover/dunkirk at the end of may, the £88 return seems brill, always find d f d s cheaper than the other ferry operators on these routes, plus the dunkirk ferries are lovely ships, hope you enjoy the show, thanks for the reply, paul.

I imagine it will just be an offer made if you book through the Caravan Club website, as the announcement was made by a staff member of the Caravan Club, and you can't book through the website if you're not a member. You cant even do it for other people now, the lead member has to be named on the booking reservation as travelling. In the past it was possible to book for family and friends if you were a member of the Caravan Club.
I must admit our last three crossings have been with P and O - and for a solo car they have been cheaper each time than DFDS - especially if you book the crossings from France!
25% for members of the Caravan Club has been mentioned by a member of staff from the Caravan Club, so potentially £103.00 for a long caravan, or £93.00 for a shorter caravan. (By the way, DFDS allow a mis-estimation of the length by not charging extra for anything less than 6 metres! I found that out when I rang to change our May booking to a longer caravan and was told 'there's one metre of leeway before we charge you extra'.)
Unfortunately thise prices are not quite the same as the £38.00 returns for a car, or £58 with a caravan, which used to be a real perk of 'The Code' and there was always hot competition to be able to be the first to announce it!
It's £78 return, with DFDS on their own website on the dates we're likely to be using, for just the car but would be £150 with the caravan! I'm so glad we leave it in France!
I've just checked the Caravan Club website for their current prices and would currently save £8 for just the car, if booking through them. However, with the caravan it would be £9 MORE expensive!!
If you can't get an offer then trick is to go at odd hrs, for example Dov/Dunc car/caravan, out at midnight & back at 4.00am for £98return. For car only cheapest is £58return, you can return from 8.00pm & you can get these fares even if you book as late as previous day. Go upstairs on the ship & you can find bench seats to have a kip on.
Lose a bit of sleep & save money, just take a few cans of Red Bull. Works for me.
Caravan club confirmed that if you book your crossing whilst the caravan show is on at the NEC thats either at the show or on the internet at home you will still get the 25% discount.
