Hi everyone

Firstly I need to apologise for letting the side Down. We went to Florida this year. Yeah, yeah I know, we won't do it again.

Back to reality and the real world. We fancy having a crack at France next year with the tent having had a week In Normandy & Brittany hotel hoping in 2013i as my eldest is in uni and I did promise him we'd go. In our defence this years largess was for our 10 Y/O who was bored witless with the culture & my driving last year.

We'd love to go back to France so as we live in Wiltshire any suggestions on crossings and destinations? We've heard lots of anecdotal stories of how good it is so we'd like to go ourselves to try it out. Family orientated with beach accessibility would be good though a good pool on site would be fine.

Regards

You need to decide on a budget and get some ideas on ferry prices etc. plenty of info on here at the moment. We've used the Tunnel for our last few trips but have used the Hull to Zebrugge crossing before, Portsmouth to Caen, St Malo and Plymouth to Roscoff. Decide how many hours you want to drive and start looking in those areas for sites with what you want on them e.g. entertainment, pool complex. Do you want coastal or inland? Once you have done it the first time you'll be hooked. We started in Brittany our first year and have been to Austria, Italy 3 times and the Med. We've also been to Florida 3 times, it's a great place!

Don't apolagise about Florida OP. I would love to go. We're planning a US road trip for 3-4 weeks in a few years time when DD finishes her GCSE.' S. Hoping to visit Florida then.
I think there's room for all type of holidays in life. At least there is in mime. It's just time and money that are the problems.

I live in Salisbury, so not too far from you. In terms of crossings, we normally take Newhaven to Dieppe overnight and drive to Northern Spain in one day (towing a Trailer Tent) - it is a log day (11 hours drive with 3 45 minute stops), but generally we are on the campsite by 5pm.

Portsmouth Le Harvre, Portsmouth to Caen or Poole to Cherbourg are also convenient from Wiltsire, however they are more expensive, Newhaven Dieppe is at least £200 cheaper

Sites on Cost Brava are excellent. We have settled on camping Aquarius (look at my reviews for details), I doesn't have a pool though. Costs of all the campsites in peak season start at 50 Euro per day for a family of 4 - We pay 70 Euro for Family of 5 on a large premium pitch, next to the beach, with running water and drainage on the pitch
