Hi Leo.
Great site ... perhaps you've seen my review?
Yes, you can paddle/row both up and downstream as the flow is quite lazy here ... basically, the best trip is to go upstream to the next 'barrage' ... play in the fast water coming off the 'weir' (very safe), and then paddle downstream back to the site. If you go the other way, it's not far to the nearby weir ... you can do a bird spotting 'round the island paddle'.
Thanks for the advice. I did read the review, and the kids are looking forward to it. They didn't want to go to the coast next year and we wanted somewhere quieter than the Dordogne, so hoping it fits the bill!

How far is it then would you say from one barrage to the other? Does it limit the amount on kayaking that you can do, or is there more than enough anyway?
I'd say about three kilometres ... you can check it upo on Google earth.
You can 'portage' your boat over/round the weirs, if you want to go further.
Only did that once ... found the round trip fine for a good 'workout'!
