Much to my surprise we now have this as a front runner and likely 2015 summer site much to my delight (thought the lack of pool would be a no go)

Looks like we can't book until 1/1/15 - really question is, for peak periods do we need to ensure we get request in on 1/1

One for BobCat10 or PaulJulie I think as they have been recently

Any pitch recommendations also please guys (will need two together both caravans and both have age 7-11 kids)?

Also is Lacanau Ocean an easy cycle on the bike routes and any other sea beaches within cycling distance?

Thanks!

Le Teday is a lovely site and one we intend to return to next year. As we went out of season 29 Aug onwards we did not book and there were loads of spare pitches, I would think it will get busy in summer so book early on. Its just a big forest with all different size pitches am not sure if you can pre book a particular pitch or not, It would not bother me where we pitched its such a lovely place. Lacanau ocean is on cycle paths off road and takes about 40 mins to cycle, you go through the woods, you can cycle all over the place without going on roads, Its a spiders web of paths that take you to different places we particularly liked Maubuisson on Lac D Hourtin but its quite a long cycle with a 7 year old, You can cycle down into the local village where there is a nice lake beach, bars and restaurants. We had a day out in Bordeaux, drove and parked on outskirts then got the tram into centre. Also Cap Ferret is good, we put bikes on car, drove about half way then cycled the rest. All down that coastline there are fantastic beaches with big waves. You will love it. J x

Be prepared for TRAFFIC, went around the bassin yesterday, 19th October, left Archachon around 5.30, at 7pm had traveled less than 2kms. In desperation followed a local registered car through the forest on gravel tracks until we found some open road.

We were on pitches 124 & 125. Both very roomy pitches we had caravan, awning, car , table for 7, BBQ and spare room on ours.
2 tents, car and spare room on my brother and dad's pitch. Both fairly level. Our pitch was next door to a washing up facility.
It was 2 min walk from reception and the beach bar.
We did have a rogue squirrel up on the tree canopy who took great delight/ dismay at dropping an half eaten pine cone early our last morning which went though my dad's vango air beam!
We were very pleased with our pitches and had a great holiday with fab weather. (we went end July/ beginning of august and prebooked

Agree with all the above comments. Regarding pitches you have to decide which side/beach to be nearest to, although its only a short walk or cycle to the other beach. Cycle paths are great. wish we had gone up to Lac d'Hourtin but will save that for next time! We did Bordeaux and Cap Ferrat but best trip was up to Point de Grave and the lighthouse museum. We also enjoyed the Dune de Pilat but Arcachon was very very busy even in September and to be honest we thought the bay very sameish! We just loved Lake Lacanau!

Wow - sounding like a great choice then!
Good to know about the pitches and facilities

Thanks all for your input and tips. Bikes are a must and may look at some inflatable kayaks as we will be on the water

Traffic not too worried about as plan is to cycle almost everywhere!

Anyone used the activities with kids they apparently lay on , archery etc and is evening entertainment OK - the bar setting looks fantastic right down by the lake

For us, one of the best bits of the holiday was sitting in the beach bar early evening with the sun going down on the lake it was total paradise. From pictures I have seen it gets lively in summer and they have bands and music laid on. Cant comment on kids clubs though. J x

We're going back to Le Tedey for the 6th time. We discovered it about 13 years ago. we found it by default. We'd only had one previous holiday in France and only got as far as Lac D'Orient. The following year some friends suggested we join them for a few days whicle they were having golfing holiday just South of Carnac....we went. Oh my goodness it was concrete blocks next to a pool, a bit like 'the prisoner'. So we spent a lovely afternoon with them and made further south. We were heading for the 'Talaris' when we decided to take a back road out of Lacaneau Ocean...and there it was a big sign for Le Tedey. We drove through the trees, left the car and had a walk round....Eden. It was perfect.

Its a great base to explore the Medoc from, and not far from Libourne and St Emilion, not forgetting the beautiful city of Bordeaux.

So we go every 3-4 years, just to chill and ride the bikes every day.

I would recommend this place to anyone.

I remembered your posts BobCat and your reviews and previous posts are one reason we are going!

Huge site but looks right up our street with the lakeside feel and laid back beach nearby
