No, Freeview boxes only work within reach of a UK transmitter. But satellite equipment is pretty cheap these days. You can now buy a brand new Pace DS430N for little more than £100, a domestic oval dish for about £20 and a signal meter for £10. That will get you Sky News virtually anywhere in Europe, and all the BBC channels throughout most of France. A £20 viewing card will give you ITV, Channel 4 and Five as well (though to get those, and the BBC, in Spain you'll need a fairly large dish). Full details on my website.
