Hi All

Has anyone stayed at this campsite in the Netherlands? we are thinking of attending a CC&C Rally next year but a little unsure if our daughter will be too young - she will be nearly 2 years old when we go so would it be better to wait a couple of years and go to an alternative site now

A lot of the rides are geared for younger kids - more than most theme parks. The theme park is free when you stay on the campsite. We stayed at the naturist part ( after they had finished for the summer ) where we had our own toilet facilities and the campsite was almost empty compared with the busy main site.

Lots of reviews on the camp site search on here.

We took my grandson when he was just under two. There were obviously a lot of rides he was too small for but he loved the swimming pool ( not the flumes!)and the children's playground. We used to take him in the evenings when it was quieter.

Having said that, that was 14 years ago and we had a dreadful week there in 2013 and would never return but it may be different if you are on a rally field.

We now use TerSpegelt, at Eersel, just outside Eindhoven. Have a look at their website.

Hi Ronni54/Brian,

Just looked at TerSpegelt and it looks a fab place , but then noticed that they don't seem to accept dogs..

Seems a shame - but she is part of the family also

Can I ask what the problem was you had at Duinrell?

Thanks both for the info..

I looked at your review and it seems to be mostly down to neighbours that you had a bad time. It did look busy and crowded on the main campsite areas which was why the naturist area is so good. As you can see we had it mostly to ourselves. The only downside is that the we had to wait to go there till late August when the naturists had finished. The only noise we had was acorns landing on the caravan roof.

It was not just the neighbours but the inability/unwillingness of the site security/management to deal with the problems. We were basically told that it was our own fault for going outside the main season as that is when they take large school parties. There were loads of empty areas so why put them on a field where there were other people? I'm not sure how the C&CC rallies work but, as I said, if they have an area to themselves, it may be fine.

Sunbeam03, sorry about the dog issue at TerSpegelt. I wasn't aware of that rule as we don't have a dog but, now you mention it, I don't remember seeing any dogs on the site. I haven't ever met any British campers there either so maybe that's the reason!

I'd say it was well set up for little ones. We have been three times, the kids love it, we hate it, but that's mainly because of the clientele it seems to attract during the school holidays -the beer swilling, loud mouthed, party at the clubhouse until small hours large parties of Brits. We found the security staff slow to stamp on antisocial behaviour, day and night, but have heard from others they found the opposite.
I think on a rally, on the camping pitches away from the statics it might be better, but it is very busy in peak season and the theme park tends to be full of school parties, and the pool full of hordes of teens. We much prefer Camping Koningshof down the road, which is a smaller, quieter family orientated site that is perfect for little ones. But obviously doesn't have the rally there.
I will add that teens hire those go kart things and hurtle around at breakneck speed, so a toddler certainly would need very close supervision when out and about.

Many thanks for your comments.... it would be in the school holidays so maybe a little too crowded for our daughter esp with her being so young and looking at the other sites that have been recommended these may be a better option as smaller and quieter... I think its possibly one for the future when she is older :)

We were there at October half term on the main part of the site near the Plaza. Some of our neighbours had dogs with them so I would check the rules again regarding dogs if I were you.

I presume, since you mention The Plaza that you are referring to Duinrell? The comments about the dogs was about TerSpegelt not Duinrell. Shame they don't allow dogs as it is a lovely family site.
