There are lots all down that route.  Half-way is Orleans, and he site at Olivet is a good one.  Further south there is La Grande Sologne at Nouan les Fuzelier, or Le Sologne at Salbris, then a municipal site at Vierzon, another municipal site at Chateauroux.  Between Vierzon and Chateauroux is the municipal site at Vatan.   If you want more details I'd be happy to post names.

They are all pleasant sites, good for overnight stops, reasonable access, and near to the main route you'll probably be using, but if you have a twin axle I may need to think again as several either don't take twins, or charge extra for them.  If you want more 'all-singing' sites with a pool, for example, then there are a few others, but they are generally further away from the main route.

We overnighted at Les Alicourts. Nice resort with pools which the kids loved after being in the car for a while.

When are you going to soleil plage? We've booked there too for late July early August :-) although we are doing the overnight ferry this time.

Hi, we get there on 24th and leave on the 2nd Aug to go to next site. Not been before but read good reviews, haven't done the overnight ferry before either so hope that's ok ;-)

Be sure to come and have a glass of vino when you see us :-)

Hi, Been to Soleil Plage may times and iMHO its the best site we've ever been too and love the area.

We set off from Kent and usually stop around Orlean. However, we don't camp just stay at a cheapy ibis. On the way back we travel the whole distance as we only live in Kent.

Great site / location, but after 5 visits you have to move on ~:)

We are travelling down to Sarlat from Calais and staying at les Peneyrals for two weeks.
We have booked overnight hotel both ways to break up the journey as it seemed a long long time in the car last year.
Just about to book Eurotunnel!

Hi, we've booked soleil plage again for 2015. We've gone via Rouen ever year and stayed at either Salbris (camping de sologne) - A71 junction 4 about a mile or 2 off the motorway. Shower facilities are a little dated but clean and tidy. The restaurant was limited but the food good ( try not to order a giraffe of wine though like my OH did!!!!). we've stayed at Camp les grand pins in Chateauroux, again only a mile or so off the A20 jnc 14. It's 150 miles to soleil plage so for us that was 3 hours. The joy of grand pins is they have a pool which comes in handy when you've been driving since dawn - I found the facilities fine but didn't go much on the restaurant. Expensive and limited set menu. If you need any more info (prices of pitches and food etc) give me a shout.
