A bit to one side, but this post got the memories going. In 1995, we took our new TT on an epic trip to Czech Moravia, staying with friends. In the days before the Interwebz and natnav, and the Euro, we crossed 11 borders and used 9 currencies. After a bit of googling, I found the sites we used:
Camping Gaalgebierg, 4142 Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg
Camping Cimbria, Wiesenweg, 74865 Neckarzimmern, Germany
Camping Gaisweiher, Gaisweiher 1, D-92696 Flossenbürg, Bavaria
ATC Knížecí rybník 399 , 391 56 Tábor - Měšice
Camping Fährhaus, 3390 Melk, Austria
Campingplatz Michelnhof, Weiberndorf 6, A-6380 St. Johann, Tyrol
Camping de l'Ill - Colmar, 1 Allée du Camping, 68180 Colmar, Horbourg Wihr, France
Camping Les Breuils, 8 Allée des Breuils, 55100 Verdun, France
I would put reviews up, but they wouldn't be very current. Most were good - I think I got them from an AA European Camping Guide of the time. It was a real odyssey, and informed a positive view of the European project.
Places that caught my eye, where I fancied revisiting: Sigmaringen, on the upper Danube. Rottweil, where the dogs come from. The Romantic Road
