Does anyone have any recent experience of touring with a dog in Germany. We know there has been quite a lot of new legislation invoked around northern europe.
We have no problem with finding sites to stay on, but last year in France we found lots of public areas including several national parks where dogs were not permitted at all, even on leads. This can be quite difficult for us as we like to pitch up the van and then walk everywhere.
Thanks in anticipation
Gerry

I dont know how recent the legislation changed but we travelled over a fair bit of Germany about 4 years ago with our dog and found no problems -stayed in the Mosel for 5 days, travelled to Bavaria, back up stayed at Wertheim and a couple of other sites en-route. The only surprise I had was swimming in a lake with the dog when it was pointed out that dogs werent allowed in that part of the lake!
I don't have a dog, but stayed at KNAUS Campingpark Rhein-Mosel/Koblenz
and part of the new shower blocks actually contained a special 'doggy' shower - so I guess they are very welcome on some sites!

When we went to Europe with friends with Dog in 2008 we did 6 Countries 3 in Eastern Europe and had no problems whatsoever. We go to Austria and Germany every year most campsites have Doggy Showers. Dogs are accepted in shops and restaurants without a problem both Countries very dog friendly much more than the UK.
Stayed in LEMGO for 2 weeks last July with 2 Border Terriers and absolutely no problems whatsoever. Took them everywhere with us (including on the trams around Bielefeld)indeed they proved to be a great talking point with many people.
