Welcome! If you can give more details about the age-group of your party and your likes and dislikes in terms of campsites and what you like to do, it will be easier for people to make specific recommendations. In the meantime, you will find many, many sites in the campsite search area on this site - just click on the map of France in the areas you wish to visit and up they'll pop!

Hi thanks for your reply sorry about not giving more info we are going with 3 other families end of July going into August for about 3 weeks
Kids ages oldest witi be 7, 5 of them then 2 5 year olds and finally 2 3year olds(God help us)
We are aged mid thirties to early forties and generally like a quieter site when we are camping somewhere we can pitch up together and have a quiet beer round a camp fire whilst the kids are sleeping
We would welcome any site suggestions or advice from anybody who has been to these areas as this will be our first camping trip abroad
Thank John

Campsites in the Champagne region are a bit like hen's teeth, especially if looking for groups sitting around a campfire.
Try Val de Vesle. There is not too much in the way of entertainment for the youngsters.

For the Loire try Mesland There is a lot going on for the children, pools playgrounds tiny pony trecking etc. It is between Amboise and Blois on the northern side of Loire.

We stayed here a few years ago. It's excellent for kids, and well placed for chateau bashing, though the kids might not be 'into' that! The Sleeping Beauty set up at Chateau of Ussé always works well for kids.

A third vote here for the Loire rather than the Champagne area. Definitely.

And a third possible site suggestion - have a look at the details, photos and reviews for La Ferme du Prunay. It might suit you all very well.

I know it means going further ... but, for a more likely guarantee of decent weather, and, the best campsite I've ever found for young kids/peace/quiet and idyllic surrounds ... have a look here
It's a fantastic area, too ... lots for kids to do ... see my review on it.

Our family used to love Camping de l'Etang at Brissac (near Angers / Saumur in the Loire). It has a small attractions park opposite, great for smallish children, which is free for campers. There is a low-key children's club in July and August and limited entertainment in the bar area, but entirely optional and not intrusive if like us, you're not into that sort of thing. If this is a first trip to France, then I'll happily recommend Le Chant d'Oiseau in the Loire

The reason being that the owners are English and they have a wealth of knowledge to share.

They must be doing something right as their repeat bookings must be the envy of a lot of sites

Another one for your pot.

site

It is central in the Medoc Peninsula. About 5 miles from either the Atlantic or the Gironde estuary. Lovely smaller site, good pool and excellent cycling around. If you get bored then Bordeaux is about 12 miles to the South

I'd agree with that - whether you will still get in for peak weeks is another matter. The meal nights, pizza, fouee etc are all very sociable and a great atrraction for this small site

Stuart - not sure that was for OP) or my other query but certainly seem to fit my requirements - will look further later.
Got as far as "vineyard opposite" and was interested

Thanks
