We are just looking into booking our summer holiday for this year in France. We are looking for a site that will accommodate 4 adults and 3 teenagers,taking our own caravans. The children would like a pool complex with slides etc. and adults would like to be able to walk from site to a village or restaurants. Walking to the beach would be a bonus.
We tend to go to the Vendee area (probably not East side or the south of France) but are happy to try some where new. Beach would be better than lake but am happy to look at anything

You don't say where you want to go.

If you are happy with Brittany then there are several sites at Carnac which will fit your wish list. But perhaps you want to go south?

Frejus, Saint-Aygulf and Roquebrune-Sur-Argens to name but 3 locations, although I will agree not for everyone, but suits us fine!

There are so many fantastic campsites which would fit your wish list, in all the beautiful areas in France, and you need to give a bit more information. Do you mind a long drive, do you want beach or inland, lake or river, mountains or good flat cycling territory.

If you want to go to the Vendee then have a look at camping oceano d'or walking distance to beach and to a small town with some decent eateries.
However the Vendee is not the most beautiful of places but the beaches are fabulous and offer great swimming and some watersports if so inclined.

We have done the Vendee area, Dordogne and last year we went to the Ardeche which was great for the kids and canoeing. This year we are going to a campsite called Les Sablons at Portiragnes-Plage which gets rave reviews.

We have a 18 and 15 year old😃

Have a look at Annecy - not by by the sea but on a lake - the Lake has great beaches and the lake is amazing to swim in- check out camping les fontaines

Would heartily recommend Cote D'Argent in Hourtin Plage. 5 minutes walk through quiet and lovely bars/market/restaurant road to a fantastic beach. I did a review I liked it so much!!
