Hey Guys,

After the success of our camping last year in the uk and France, we are off to Bordeaux in the summer. We are going to Le Tedey.

We have the ferry and main site booked, and our ferry arrives at 9:30 at night.

Im stuggling to find a stop over point.

I wanted to stop at Tal ar mor, however after emailing them I got this back :
"I'm sorry but i can't promise you anything. We're reflecting to close the campsite before this summer season...
So if' we're open, you can just pass by and we'll see straight on site for the check in - check out.
Have a nice day.

I'm guessing you are landing at Roscoff. Am I right?

The two side by side sites at St Pol de Leon (Trologot and Ar Kleguer) are normally happy to welcome UK visitors at that time of night, though newcomers often say they find those two sites difficult to find, so e mail and say you will be arriving late,and ask for directions when you book.

We use the small municipal site at Plougoulm village, Camping Le Bois de la Palud, ten minutes from the ferry, which is open all hours without a resident warden. They do take bookings but that really isn't necessary as you can pull straight in to the big meadow section of the site which is never full, and then see the warden when she arrives in the morning. But note that this site is only open from mid June to the end of August.

In the past you could stay overnight at Roscoff port, but Brittany Ferries say that is no longer possible.

Must be a supermarket on the way out of town? Works for me for a late night stopover at the back of the carpark & you can go shopping in the morning.

hey guys,
What is a municipal site ?? What facilities to they offer ? Never really ran the caravan on battery so dont actually know what will work on it ?

Staying in a supermarket - never even thought of that ? - Cool idea !

A Municipal site would be like a 'council' owned site. Personally I would just find an Aire but find one in a village not on a 'motorway' or stop in a Supermarche car park. You don't really need a campsite for one night!
Village/town Aires are good you may even find a free one, but please don't be tempted to sleep on any of the so called 'Aires' you see on the big main carriageways, although the sign may call them 'Aire ........' They are only an area for a rest/picnic/loo stop, and are not safe to overnight on! Have a good time.

Municipal sites are owned and run by the local community/town/village and usually offer good value. They will have EHU a and toilets and showers etc. normally. Well worth looking into for future stopovers.

Here's the link to all municipal sites in France.
they are terrific value ... and some are extremely good.
All offer, at least, decent basics ... for stop-overs, they are perfect ...
We've spent several extended periods at municipal sites (up to two weeks), and been very satisfied (well, you'd hardly spend two weeks at a site if you weren't!).
Always seems a pointless excercise to me to spend a lot on an overnighter, when you don't intend to use any facilities othet than loos, water, and shower.
Aires are free, though a few worry about security (we've never had a problem) ... the same goes for Supermarket car parks.
